We made it to Whitehorse. Yay.
We headed out at around 8 o'clock and made it into Whitehorse at 11:30pm. It was a long day. But so worth it. The weather was ok. It was foggy most of the day, so we did not get to see the beautiful scenery. We are hoping for sun tomorrow though.
It was very strange leaving Anchorage, and it still feels like we are just going on a trip. But it will sink in eventually. Davy, our cat is a trooper and it only took him about half an hour to settle in and he was totally calm and comfy for the rest of the day.
Highlights:
-seeing the star at arctic valley one last time
-drinking orange spice tea in the car
-seeing the stars
-making it into Canada
-seeing city lights far away and knowing that there will be civilization
-talking to family on the way out of Alaska
Lowlights:
-leaving friends and Anchorage
-fog all day and therefore no nice scenery
-lots of hours driving in the dark

Happy travels. I cannot believe that you drove 700 miles on the first day. I'm so excited for you to be able to spend so much more time with family, but will miss your amazing Alaskan adventures! Love and safe travels ... Aunt Sue
ReplyDeleteHey you 2 lovebirds...have a safe trip! Maddie, is Nick allowing you to do some of the driving? Will definitely join you as you trek your way down-ward and across Canada. Whereabout will you be entering back into the states? Looking forward to tomorrow's update! Auntie Diane
